Shooting today in Houston’s Fourth Ward for a project for a non-profit group renovating homes. Here I met Ken. Quite possibly one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. I could have (and almost did) talk to him for hours.

Beautiful work of Jose Mandojana. Fantastic portraits and wonderful back stories. This one is of Lisa Hallett for Runner’s World. Lisa’s husband John and three of his fellow soldiers were killed in Afghanistan in August of 2009 by an IED. He never met his 3 week old girl and left behind two other children. Lisa organizes a group who “run to remember” their fallen loved ones.
Says Jose, “This portrait was made moments after Lisa began to cry as she spoke to me about her husband.”
